Award-winning actor Sharon Lawrence presents a reading of Robin Gerber's new play, THE SHOT, about iconic Washington Post publisher Katharine Graham.
For more than 20 years, Katharine Graham was a self-described "doormat wife," secretly enduring years of domestic abuse from her husband. After his suicide, she took over as publisher and CEO of the Washington Post where she defied the government by publishing the Pentagon Papers, took on Nixon in Watergate and stunned her male executives who had bet against her success.

Last March, 330 people were looking forward to a live, sold-out play reading of THE SHOT in Los Angeles. The pandemic interrupted efforts to bring the story of domestic abuse suffered by Washington Post publisher Katharine Graham to the stage. The production team refused to let COVID stop their efforts to help those affected by intimate partner violence so they pivoted and produced a video reading for audiences anywhere.  They hope to be live on stage with a full production soon. For now, you can enjoy this staged reading "cyber-play" with the hope that it will inspire insight, hope and support for anyone who is a victim or survivor and those who care about them.
This limited time screening will be availbale Feb. 12 to 15, with all proceeds benefiting Domestic Violence Solutions and Center Stage Theater here in Santa Barbara.

On Friday February 12 at 6:00 in a livestream event we will debut the video, followed by an interactive Q&A panel with playwright Robin Gerber, award-winning actress Sharon Lawrence, Domestic Violence Solutions client advocate Miriam Ceballos and survivor Nataly Sarabia. Following this debut event the video will be available for on-demand viewing through Feb. 15.

Purchase your ticket, receive a link, and enjoy the play from the socially distanced location of your choice. Reflecting our current challenging times, ticket prices are on a sliding scale starting at an affordable $10, and increasing for those who are able to add a contribution to support Domestic Violence Solutions and Center Stage Theater.
