SPEAKING
OF STORIES PRESENTS
SPEAKING OF SCI-FI
ZERO HOUR by Ray Bradbury
THE TIME MACHINE by H.G. Wells
FLASH GORDON
Directected by Maggie Mixsell
Stepping out of our usual format Speaking of Stories transforms
Center Stage into a 1940s radio station to present Speaking of Sci-Fi,
an evening of classic radio plays. You won't want to miss this evening of
thrills, chills and, of course, a hero to save the day!
The year is 100,080 in H.G. Wells' The Time
Machine. Falla and Dudley are thrust into the future in Dudley's
time machine, to a world where beauty and terror live side by side. Will
they escape the evil flesh eating Morlox and live to tell the tale, or was
it all a dream? Listen closely as this timeless piece unfolds.
One of the most controversial
plays of its time, we present Zero Hour by Ray Bradbury.
This chilling episode reveals how Martians plan to infiltrate the world
via a game called "invasion" with the help of planet earth's children!
Ripe with imagination, the children gleefully accept the mission and methodically
prepare for a time when they can help to rule the world; a time when there
will be no more parents to tell them what to do; a time when they will have
control! That time is five o'clock. That time is "zero hour."
That time is now! Share the suspense with us.
Everyone loves a hero, and what better example, than Flash
Gordon. We bring you not one, not two, but three installments of
this legendary character's escapades in his quest to save the world.
These classic plays
are brought to life through the talented voices of Faline England, Eric
Davison, Megan Hickey, David Miller and Jason Uliasz (whose
photos appear here in this order). The atmosphere of a live 40's radio broadcast
will replace Speaking of Stories's usual format, complete with special effects
provided by Chris Turner serving as our on-stage sound magician.
