SANTA BARBARA THEATRE PRESENTS

EXITS AND ENTRANCES
A play by ATHOL FUGARD

Santa Barbara Theatre, the city's new professional theater company, opens its inaugural 2005-2006 season with Athol Fugard's magical and mesmerizing play. Based on a true story, Exits and Entrances revolves around the friendship between a young playwright and an aging actor known as the "Olivier of South Africa." Last chance to see Exits and Entrances in California!

"We've heard from many people who wanted to see EXITS AND ENTRANCES because they missed it the first time around," says SBT Producing Director Albert Ihde. "We are very pleased that we are able to bring this stellar cast back to Santa Barbara before this production moves to the East Cost, and we are not surprised that so many people say they want to see it again."

Directed by SBT's Co-Artistic Director Stephen Sachs, this production reunites Morlan Higgins and William Dennis Hurley as the famous classical actor and the young playwright, respectively. Mr. Sachs, Mr. Higgins and Mr. Hurley all received multiple awards in Los Angeles for their work in EXITS AND ENTRANCES.

EXITS AND ENTRANCES has won three L.A. Ovation Awards, 5 L.A. Drama Critics Circle awards, 5 Back Stage West Garland awards, and others too numerous to mention. Additionally, it was the "Critic's Choice" at the Los Angeles Times, the L.A. Weekly and Back Stage West.

Stephen Sachs will also direct Arthur Miller's classic play A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE in April for SBT. Mr. Sachs is noted for his production of another Miller work, AFTER THE FALL, which won many awards in Los Angeles several seasons back.

Completing this first subscription season will be Donald Margulies' Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy, DINNER WITH FRIENDS, directed by Asaad Kelada, SBT Co-Artistic Director. Mr. Kelada directed the critically acclaimed revival of Tom Stoppard's THE REAL THING early last season in Santa Barbara.

Santa Barbara Theatre is a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) corporation and a professional theatre company under contract with Actors' Equity Association. SBT is a proud member of the Santa Barbara Performing Arts League.
